reflection of market performance. Provided for you are Sales and Listing stats for
our local market by quarters.(1st Quarter - Jan to March, 2nd Quarter – Apr to
June, 3rd Quarter – July to Sep, 4th Quarter - Oct to Dec.). Each quarter roughly
reflects a season of sales activity. Our area typically sees the greatest amount of
activity in the end of the 2nd quarter and the 3rd quarter. Events like presidential
elections and significant weather events such as Hurricane Katrina impact the
market.

Housing Affordability Index
This report (national and regional stats) shows the relationship in
housing payments to income. This report indicates that in the South,
housing affordability has improved by over 24 percent in the past
year and is the most favorable in years.
This report shows home appreciation by state for 1 year, 5 years
and since 1980. Mississippi is one of only 17 states that had a
positive housing appreciation in 2008.
This report provides information on foreclosures in the State versus other
states and a chart showing foreclosures by County in the State. Lamar and
Forrest Counties have very low foreclosure rates compared with other metro
areas in the state and Mississippi ranks the 8th lowest in the US - about
1/10th of the national average.
